It’s time to catch up on Phyllis Esposito!

Preview of Episode 58:

When I found my way back out to Eddie’s waiting room, Avo, who had returned to his station behind the counter, stood and looked at me. “Are you ready?”

I stopped, eyeing him. “For what?”

He reached down and behind him, retrieving a beige windbreaker from the back of his chair. “I’m going to drive you.”

I swallowed. Even beneath the residual sponge, still floating around my brain, I felt a note of alarm. “That’s… That’s not necessary.”

Avo shrugged into his jacket, unconcerned. “You owe Eddie a favor now. She wants to protect her investment.”

Emerging from behind the counter, he brushed me aside. I might as well have tried to resist a freight train. He walked to the door and held it open.

“I usually work alone,” I said. “More stealthy that way?”

“Come on, Phyllis.” He smiled over gritted teeth. “You know how discreet I am.”

I looked him up and down: seven feet and four hundred pounds of bad attitude. “You know,” I said. “Just because people avoid eye contact, doesn’t mean they don’t see you.”
